Estela Lopez - Central City East's most influential person in 2005
Saturday, December 31

Who is this woman? This short lady , thin as a stick , who is not afraid to walk the streets of Central City East ?
Estela Lopez is the executive director of the Central City East Association , a non profit organization that speaks for the property owners in Central City East .
But why is this woman so influential? Who in their right mind would think that she would get even the residents to walk with her on her Central City East Neighborhood watch walk, she holds sway over the english speaking press in Los Angeles and the Spanish Speaking press?, she has brought the plight to the public of Central City East as a place of lawlessness the way a general fighting a battle would use harassing fire to keep the enemy always in danger or to keep their positions exposed always on the defensive. A full court press with momentum that won't cease.

SO this year the most influential person in Central City East is Estela Lopez
Cara Mia DiMassa
This is a name that is the real journalism , and the real objective and goal oriented writing that should be lauded . The LAT does a piece on the plan to end homelessness today that is balanced and gives us information on what has been going on in that committee Bring LA Home.
This is Journalism, not that garbage Steve Lopez writes that just states generalizations and stereotypes , but comes up with no real solutions on the problems of HOmelessness.
Jan Perry had this to say about the comittee:
City Councilwoman Jan Perry said that when the group began, she was enthusiastic because it included "a broad cross-section" of leaders. "But I think, as is human nature, they retreated back to their respective constituencies over time."
THis woman and PAt Mcgreevey are truly writing balanced stories and factual stories at that and not being manipulative in gathering that information , the way Steve Lopez does.
I am seroiusly thinking now of subscribing to the LA Times , due to the stories which this woman and PAt Mcgreevey have written. If only the times could do something about Steve Lopez , I would go out and get subscription tomorrow.
