Why are we beating the homeless?
Friday, January 13
In florida another beating has taken place of Homeless men out on the street. This time it was caught on tape. Two young white men went out to see if they liked the idea of killng. That is what I think it is ; curiosity of what it would feel like to kill or harm another human being. I don't prosrcibe to the idea that a video made these kids do this , that somehow they were desensitized to the idea of harming another human being like what they did that night. I believe that these kids wanted to know what it was like to hurt someone else. I mean ,why didn't they attack the neighbors ? Or their aquantainces from school or the community? It is because, I beleive, they know right from wrong.
I wonder what these communities are like in Florida? I can't say it is because they are homogenous communities and that is why this happened , because , we know, it happened here in Downtown Los Angeles. So what is making these kids go out and beat up on the homeless?
One theory is that it is because of inititations:
Advocates say random violence against the homeless has long existed and is on the rise.
South Florida has had at least five cases of homelessrelated killings by teens or young adults in the last two decades.
In 1986, in West Palm Beach, four teens decided, as a police report put it, to "roust some bums" for fun and beat a homeless man to death. In 1996, a 40-year-old homeless man was punched, kicked and stomped to death by a gang of teens in Pompano Beach.
"It's one of the shameful secrets we have, the beating of homeless for sport," said Marti Forman, chief executive of the Cooperative Feeding Program in Fort Lauderdale. "It's a recreation thing; it's an initiation for gangs and fraternities. I see it in the kitchen in the mornings, people coming in with their black eyes and broken teeth."
I beleive the kids are doing these heinous acts because these kids are in need of a good whippin.
