Central City East : Downtown Los Angeles

Living and Writing from the heart of skid row since 1999. Blogging since 2004.

Unofiicial DLANC results

Saturday, June 14

These are the unofficial results from the City Clerk's office as far as the election Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council election is concerned.

SHIRAZ Tangri only got 8 votes. Little Radio got O votes. Those who thought that they were a shoe in based on who they are and made no effort to get elected did not. That includes myself. If I had of known that the request for absentee ballots were in the DLANC office I would have probably received over 1000 votes, no kidding. The mailers did not go out either, so that was also a problem for those of us in Downtown. I have name recognition.

Anyway, I was one of the highest vote getters after Alex Cha.

My joy stems from the totals for the social service provider seats and the Central City East Resident Seat. We as residents now have proper representation on the DLANC Board. My work has paid off.

I am a little disappointed that Shannon Parker did not win a board seat. This was an opportunity to work on the issues of on site supportive housing as a resident with skid row housing trust and not just them by themselves.

But it is going to make it much easier now that Antoinette Falice will be able to take over the affordable housing committee as the board chair and pick a resident as the co-chair, if she so chooses , because then when we get that white paper going to begin to seek the social service dollars for the on-site services , there is no chance that those who are to distribute the money or their lawyers can claim that there is a conflict of interest since Shannon Parker is also a grant writer for Skid Row Housing Trust.

I am amazed at the amount of votes I received even though I did not campaign.

BY not winning a seat The board members are fair game and I can hold them accountable without fear of legal recourse, such as if I was on the board.

I can also continue to work on the issues in skid row and have back up on the board.

The biggest thing is that I will be able to complete this social networking site much sooner and start bringing in those millions sothat in two years I will have the resources to win.
